APPLEJACK OR RAINBOW DASH FOR PRESIDENT?
Is Sen. Ted Cruz "likable" enough to win a general election?
A story in January asked that question, but somehow a choice quote pulled from the interview just hit Twitter this week.
I’ve just jumped from a hay bale to the upper rung of a bleacher seat — it’s the only way I can see Cruz, surrounded by fans, cameras and boom mics. Now I’m looking down, and the Texan with slicked-back hair, a rugged outdoorsman’s jacket and hiking shoes is talking about ponies. “What’s your favorite My Little Pony?” Cruz asks his tiny supporter, a little girl who is wearing a Rainbow Dash beanie. ”Twilight,” she says. “I have two daughters, and they love Twilight,” Cruz says, before adding, with a grin: “My favorite, though, is Applejack. I just think she’s funny.”
As you might know, Cruz is dad to Caroline and Catherine, ages 7 and 5, respectively. So of course he knows his "My Little Pony" characters.
Here's the really important question though ...

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR FEMALE INVENTORS?
In time for International Women's Day on Tuesday, Microsoft launched a campaign highlighting female inventors called "Make What's Next." As the girls in the ad learn, women inventors have given us the first computer program, the circular saw and other important breakthroughs.
Edison, Franklin, Leonardo Da Vinci and other brilliant men are rightly revered. Still, as the film points out, "not everything is man made."
"There are a lot of amazing things that have been made, and continue to be made, by women," Susan Young, group creative director at McCann Worldgroup's m:united, which made the work, tells Adweek. "And if you study STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math], you can make anything. We want girls to know that they can make anything."
A few more bites:
“We’ve got to show the American people that when we don’t let the Trumps of the world divide us up, [that] when we stand together black and white and Latino and gay and straight, they have all of the power and the money, but we have the people.” - Sen. Bernie Sanders at a Florida campaign rally, via The Hill
