NOT EVEN LIBERTARIANS CAN HAVE ANYTHING NICE IN 2016
The big headline from the 2016 Libertarian Convention was unfortunately not presidential nominee Gary Johnson, but a man who did a striptease on stage until he was wearing nothing but underwear on live TV.
But the nearly naked man on stage wasn't the convention's most embarrassing moment. In a year when Americans are worried about essential needs and face the hellish choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, libertarians managed to fumble the ball.
RENEGADES ON THE LOOSE
Weekly Standard writer Bill Kristol, who was recently labeled "Renegade Jew" by Trumpbart, teased an upcoming third-party conservative candidate over Memorial Day weekend. The choice appears to be National Review writer, constitutional lawyer and Iraq War veteran David French ... a candidate with zero name recognition in a campaign where his main opponents would be two of the most easily recognizable people in the world.
Despite the major hurdles such a run would face, Trump seemed uneasy, lashing out at Kristol in a series of tweets. Kristol returned with this gem:
French at least received a very important blessing from #NeverTrump flagbearer Mitt Romney:
A few more bites:
"For at least a generation, the Left has been arguing that American conservatism is shot through with racism, sexism, and xenophobia. And now millions of Americans will face the difficult task of rebutting charges of hateful bigotry while supporting a man who gives aid and comfort to avowed racists, incites violence, and can’t even consistently disavow the Klan. Trump is the destroyer of conservatism, and he will taint all who take his side." - David French in National Review
